How Cancer Spreads

Cancer is one of the most dangerous and deadly diseases nowadays. According to the scientists’ report of Nature Communications (October 2012 issue), there are various reasons for cancer to spread. It has nothing to do with inheritance. The researchers have proved that it is important to discover the mortality of the disease which is main reason of metastatic tumors to originate in any part of the body.
How is cancer spread
Scientists from the Physical Sciences-Oncology Centers, USA, has given report in the journal Scientific Reports (April 2013 issue) that the malignant cells of cancer spread due to so many reasons. According to professor Robert Austin and team, there are various physical and chemical reasons for cancer cells to develop and spread in the body. This disease is becoming common across America and other parts of the world.
Prof. Austin said:
"By bringing together different types of experimental expertise to systematically compare metastatic and non-metastatic cells, we have advanced our knowledge of how metastasis occurs."
Genes - the DNA type
Cells of cancer usually develop abnormal DNA and gene mutations. This is one of the main reasons for cancer cells to develop and grow abruptly. There is a strong need to keep a check and balance. Usually it happens that the cells of cancer take the place of normal cells and genes of the body, leading them to commit suicide and stops their division. This gives rise to tumor that originates inside or outside the body. there are four types of genes that are involved in spreading and production of cancer cells: oncogenes tell cells, tumor suppressor genes, suicide genes, and DNA-repair genes. All of these genes have their special and particular properties, due to which cancer can spread any time and anyway in the body.
Carcinogens
Carcinogen is a class of substances that damage DNA of the body, leading to the promotion of cancer cells. This usually takes place due to tobacco, asbestos, arsenic, radiation such as gamma and x-rays, the sun, and other similar products as well as the substances and compounds that are produced by the fumes and fuel of the air we breathe in.
Genes - the family type
Cancer is the result of various genetic abnormalities. This also occurs due to genetic predisposition that is inherited from family members. This is possible, according to researchers, that this disease can take place in any part of the body. The genes, wherever are abnormal, are likely to cause cancer and not only this but also these spread the cancer cells and urge them to develop and get produced in many parts of the body.
Other medical factors
There are various medical factors that cause cancer-causing mutations in our DNAs. Some of them include viruses like human papillomavirus (a cause of cervical cancer), hepatitis B and C (causes of liver cancer), and Epstein-Barr virus (a cause of some childhood cancers). Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and other immune function abnormalities are all the reason of cancer to develop and spread.
We should think seriously of how we can stop ourselves from this disease. It is never too late the start precautions and preventions which are better than expensive cancer treatments.
