Korean Braised Short Ribs Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Soy Sauce
    1.5 Cups
  • Sesame Oil
    3 Tablespoons
  • Garlic
    2 Tablespoons
    Chopped
  • Ginger Root
    1 Tablespoons
    Chopped
  • Ginger
    1 Teaspoons
    Ground
  • Brown Sugar
    1/4 Cups
  • Water
    2.5 Cups
  • Rice Wine
    1/2 Cups
  • Salt and Pepper
    To Taste
  • Kiwi
    1
    Peeled, Mashed
  • Pear
    1/2 Cups
    Peeled, Grated
  • Beef Short Ribs
    4 Pounds
  • Shiitake Mushrooms
    1/2 Cups
    Sliced
  • Chestnuts
    1 Cups
  • Yellow Onion
    1
    Diced
  • Green Onions
    1/2 Cups
    Chopped
  • Potatoes
    2
    Sliced into chunks
  • Carrots
    1
    Diced

Preparation mode:

Steps to make Korean Braised Short Ribs Recipe:
1) Take a bowl and whisk together garlic, ginger, minced ginger, brown sugar, water, rice wine, salt, pepper, kiwi, pear, sesame oil and soy sauce.
2) Fill a pot with water and dip in the short ribs. Leave for one hour to let the water take out the impurities. Drain well.
3) Make shallow cuts across the rib meat using a sharp knife.
4) Fill a stockpot with water and bring to a boil over high flame.
5) Add the ribs to the boiling water and leave to boil for half an hour. Drain
6) Re add the boiled ribs to the water and and mix in the prepared sauce. Mix thoroughly.
7) Over moderate flame, boil for 60 minutes, then throw in the carrot and potatoes.
8) Add yellow and green onions, followed by mushrooms and chestnuts. Stir readily.
9) Cook for half an hour or until all vegetables are soft.

This Korean Braised Short Ribs Recipe is one of the vintage methods of rib cooking in Korea. It is also very different to the normal asian short rib dishes. The meat is super soft and tender and the flavors are sweet and tangy, making it a must have rib meal if you're a fan! Enjoy and happy cooking!
