Home Remedies for Poison Oak



Poison ivy or poison oak is a common health problem of North America. This causes severe allergies and rashes of the skin. The males, females, and even the children need to stay away from this complication because if it turns to serious form, this can lead you to death. Here are the home remedies for poison oak.
Use Cold Water
You not only have to drink cold water but also take shower with it. This is a proven way to get relief from the burning sensation of poison oak. Use cold water every day. Wash your body parts where allergy or rashes are present with cold water thrice a day. You can also apply ice cubes directly onto the damages skin part. In another case, you can use clothes that are wet of cold water.
Calamine Lotion
It is very easy and one of the quickest home remedies for poison oak. The calamine lotion has cooling properties and reduces inflammation and burning of the skin. Here let me tell you that the lotion gets dried quickly. To prevent it from drying, you should keep it in wet area of your refrigerator. Keep it close to the water bottles or ice in freezer. This lotion is effective for reducing the skin’s redness and prevents from scratches and itching effects.
Lemon Massage
Lemons have always been present in our homes. Isn’t it? These are rich of vitamin C which may give you a little pain but the end result is great. Take a lemon and cut it into two pieces. Massage the skin’s area where you have poison oak with the lemon. Continue the application and massage for about 3-5 minutes. Studies prove that the lemon massage reliefs from the various skin problems.
Cornstarch Paste
It is very easy to make cornstarch paste at home. This can also be bought from the market, but I prefer to make it by yourself. For treating poison ivy allergy, cornstarch paste has no alternate. Take cornstarch and add some water drops to it. Continue stirring and mixing till it turns to the paste form. You can bring home white cornstarch powder if you are not comfortable with the preparation of the paste. Apply to the skin’s part with poison oak.
